Heavy gauge for even spread of heat. Light finish do it doesn't overbrown. Perfectly perpendicular sides for an even rise even without baking strips. No need to even consider a pan with a non-stick finish (that will eventually fail), cakes come out perfectly with a light coating of shortening and flour. No matter what size you buy, you won't ever need to replace this pan.
